Biography

Dr. Caicedo has been actively involved in both the local and national medical communities. She is the Past President of the Charlotte Pediatric Society and still serves on the organization’s Board. She is also a Past President of the North Carolina Allergy Asthma & Immunology Society. In February of 2015, Dr. Caicedo was appointed by The American Academy of Pediatrics and The Allergy & Asthma Network as North Carolina’s sole Medical Home Champion for Allergy Asthma & Anaphylaxis. She speaks throughout the local and state medical communities on allergy and asthma related topics and is often asked to write opinion editorials and give interviews for her local Charlotte community.

Dr. Caicedo has been involved in multiple clinical research studies in food allergy, atopic dermatitis, eosinophilic esophagitis, and asthma. She has also been involved in multiple national quality improvement studies. She is a member of the Carolinas Eosinophilic Esophagitis Collaborative. She believes strongly in advocacy and was proud to assist in the efforts to obtain funding for one registered nurse for every local public Charlotte Mecklenburg School (CMS) as well as implementing stock epinephrine throughout CMS. Dr. Caicedo has been asked to speak throughout the state of North Carolina and on National radio broadcasts on the topic of the health effects of climate change.

Dr. Caicedo comes to Carolina Asthma and Allergy Center with over 10 years of experience practicing Allergy and Immunology in the Charlotte area. She entered the field of Allergy and Immunology because of her love for the diversity and ever changing nature of the specialty. She enjoys the ability it gives her to follow patients from infancy to adulthood. She believes in providing individualized, evidence based treatment to her patients. She enjoys both teaching and learning from them. Her specialized interests include food allergy, including oral desensitization for food allergies, atopic dermatitis and other allergic skin conditions.

Dr. Caicedo has been married to her husband, Rick for 19 years. They have two children, ages 10 and 13. Dr. Caicedo believes in the philosophy of challenging herself everyday. In her free time, Dr. Caicedo enjoys photography, hiking and the outdoors as well as reading and fitness.
