Biography

Dr. Susan Hungness has been a physician at Carolina Asthma & Allergy Center since 2007. She treats both adults and children in our Eastover, South Park, & Rock Hill locations. Originally from Naperville, Illinois, Dr. Hungness graduated summa cum laude from the University of Iowa. She completed Medical School, her Internship, & Residency at Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois, and her Allergy & Immunology Fellowship at University of Michigan Hospitals and Clinics in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Dr. Hungness is board certified in Allergy & Immunology.

Dr. Hungness enjoys helping patients to further understand and more successfully manage their medical issues to help them feel better. As the mother of two children with eczema and food allergies, she understands the challenges that come with managing such conditions.

For fun, Dr. Hungness enjoys hiking, scrapbooking, and spending time with her husband and two sons. She is also a den leader for one of her son’s Cub Scout Pack and was honored to receive the 2022 God Send Award for her outstanding efforts of going above and beyond the call of duty for her Cub Scout Pack.

I was diagnosed with allegories as a child, but by the time I was a teenager my parents forgot what all I was allergic to. Dr. Susan Hungness and the staff of Carolina Asthma and Allergy gave me thorough allergy test. They are helping me to get my asthma and allergies under control after years of living in frustration with it. The people are friendly and caring. I was also referred to a nutritionist/ dietician Raquel at one of their other locations that is wonderful in helping me with my food allergies and losing weight. You couldn’t ask for a more caring group of people.

This visit although long was quite enjoyable! I love adventure and learning and over 3 hours I learned a lot about myself and Allergies, it was very informative. Dr. Hungness is really awesome. I recommend that you are direct and thorough with your requests and concerns. She's very receptive and responsive. The only way to describe what I came in with is a psychological allergy that I personally manifested and knew was likely false. She never made me feel judged or irrational. The treatment that I needed from her was very unconventional, but she was totally on board. It's rare to find a doctor who treats the whole patient rather than their own personal specialty. Her staff is also so special. They all answered my unending questions without hesitation or frustration - and with a smile on their faces. I highly recommend this practice for many reasons.
